these questions immediately.
Performance Primer Training Summary
This training emphasizes the practical aspects of
power plant performance, not just the theory. The intent of this training
is to increase the heat rate and efficiency awareness of the power plant
personnel. When they leave this class they will have a basic understanding
of the equipment in the power plant and how it affects the heat rate and
capacity of the unit. They will have an idea of what to start looking for
when they see heat rate or capacity problems.
This one day class is hands on training. The
participants will be challenged with real life power plant problems in the form
of exercises and case studies. Everyone who attends will receive a binder
with all the class material, exercises, and case studies. They will also
receive a calculator. The exercises done in the class are challenging, yet
simple, and require a calculator. The answers to all exercises are
presented to the class in a simple handwritten form for their future
reference. We have two instructors in the class to help with problem
solving.
The material presented will also help operators
understand their unit performance monitors. They will have an idea of how
the information presented by the unit performance monitor is calculated.
It will also allow them to check the data on the performance monitors for
accuracy. Finally, if a heat rate or capacity problem is encountered, the
information presented in the class will help them to start diagnosing the
problem.
