Performance
Engineering LLC specializes in power
plant performance. We are dedicated to providing our customers with cost
effective solutions for performance and diagnostic testing of all major
components to include steam, combustion, and hydro turbines, boilers, pumps,
fans, to list a few.
We also perform Steam Path Audits (SPA's) that provide
valuable information that can be used to determine the most cost effective
repairs to be made during the overhaul process.
We are committed to helping our customers accurately
determine the current efficiency of their generation assets and providing the
answers necessary to improve that efficiency. We cannot only save only
save you money, but help you make more money by generating more kW with
less fuel.

-
We bring our own calibrated
instrumentation, high speed data collection equipment, and precision
power meters and install it them on your equipment for accurate and
reliable results.
-
We use the "Dye Dilution
Method" to obtain the flow through the Hydraulic Turbine and
measure the kW output, draft and penstock pressures with our own
calibrated instrumentation.
-
"Dye Dilution Testing" can be
used in virtually all large water flows to obtain highly accurate and
repeatable flows for accurate pump performance calculations and
in-situ calibration of your existing flow meters.
-
"Steam Path Audits" (SPA's)
provide valuable information regarding the actual condition of the
turbine. The report provides detailed, stage by stage analysis
of the present condition and the cost to benefit ratios for repair
and/or replacement of the seals, rotating and stationary blades, and
end packings. Our SPA's identify and quantify steam path
degradation such as: excess seal leakage, SPE, mechanical
damage, deposits, surface roughness, FOD, etc.
-
Fiberscope inspections can determine
whether or not an overhaul is necessary, and when done regularly can
be used to predict when an overhaul will be warranted and/or cost
effective. Fiberscope inspections can also be used to internally
inspect pumps and heat exchangers.
-
Our "Power Plant Performance Primer
Training Course" is designed to increase the heat rate and
efficiency awareness of your power plant personnel. This is a
one day class conducted at your site, that allows ease of scheduling
and a minimum interruption of work flow. It can be scheduled for
multiple days to further minimize the need to pay overtime for your
off-shift personnel.
